Because my curiosity to know all about Novaci is so great, I have wondered endlessly through town. Novaci is not known for any historical masterpieces, it’s streets are not filled with skyscrapers, you will not find a four star hotel, nor any chain restaurants. “Downtown” is made up of the market and the “under construction” bus station. Haven’t been able to find a book in the book store and cows, ducks, chickens, sheep and horses are the cause of most traffic jams.
However, this is my home now and I’ve come to appreciate all the greatness that Novaci has to offer. Novaci is located at the foothills of Parang Mountains, offering a splendid view of the natural beauty that surrounds the town and that I call the towns masterpiece. The small, colorful homes enhanced by the hanging flower pots from their balconies adorn the small streets of this town. The hospitality is in abundance here, no wonder why they haven’t thought about bringing a Hilton or Marriott. Daily, I can find fresh food at the local piaţă (market) like cheese, peaches, bananas and strawberries–and I have a feeling this will be my daily hangout for the next two years :). My host mom is an incredible and outstanding cook who believes we should only eat the freshest and healthiest food available–plus she like to drink homemade wine with meals, just one glass. I started to replace my books with conversations with the locals and regarding the traffic jams, well I don’t have a car and at least I know the cow that provides me with milk.
My lens only provides a small glimpse of my new home. Enjoy the pictures and remember the simplicity of doing nothing takes a lot of practice. Only those that can master it really appreciate the moment- Andrea

How cool that you got to meet the Mayor. Is the Mayor the man or the woman next to you? What is municipal government like in Novaci?
The Mayor is the man.
